Match Preview - Dronfield (A)

Olly Burton20 Mar - 14:42

Green's manager Jamie McGhee looks ahead to Saturday's trip to Dronfield Town in UCL Division One action.

In The Green Corner

Looking to get over the disappointment of last week will be the main aim for Sleaford this Saturday, as the team were crushed 3-1 by rivals Gedling Miners Welfare. It was a dissapointing day all-round for the Greens, and especially for Jamie McGhee, who didn't think there was much good to take from the match.

"It's really hard to pull any positives from last week's loss in terms of performance as it was so night and day from the previous week where we won" he said. "I would say from a manager's perspective if there is a positive it was I learned an awful lot about the groups character as a team and as individuals".

As the team faces another away trip, McGhee stresses the importance of getting results on the road on top of at home. "I think points away and points at home at this stage of the season are equally important. Each game now is about going to a game with no fear applying ourselves correctly and hopefully pulling out a positive result."

Focussing more specifically on the opposition, McGhee knows the challenge ahead of the team. "Dronfield will be a tough game even though they are mid table, I always say that every team regardless always has something to play for.

"One is obviously the three points, but also players at every club are now starting to play for their futures, whether it's with the same club, or to be noticed elsewhere which is no different here. We have to be up for this game and put last week's wrongs right. I've watched Dronfield this season so we have an idea of what they do, and we will do our best to nullify their threats".

Opposition Focus

Dronfield are looking comfortable in mid-table, staying away from the threat of the drop as well as the chance at promotion. The last meeting between the two ended in a 4-0 riot, where Sleaford were swept aside in a weak showing.

Saturday's hosts have been in good form as of late, winning their last two against Staveley and Dunkirk. Two games prior, they beat Rainworth 2-1 at home.
