Sleaford will be searching to make it four games unbeaten on Tuesday evening, as they welcome Louth Town to the BPH Stadium. A Lewis Smith penalty secured a 1-1 draw away at Radford on Saturday, ensuring another point was added to the board. The Greens come into this matchday seventh in the table after four games.

Since coming to the club, Jamie McGhee has been unbeaten in all eight home league fixtures. The manager wants to increase the run, and recently has been delighted by the progress of the players on the pitch: “The main Talking points from Saturday were how far we have come as a group since last season” he said after the match versus Radford.

“The majority of the squad is still here from what we finished the season with, so Saturday showed the new change of mentality that we have to dig in when players are missing, or the opposition are more physical. We had plenty to be pleased about in that respect.”

In terms of continuing performances as of recent, McGhee believes numerous factors have helped towards the run of form: “I would like to say [a reason is] the continuity within the squad, but we haven’t really had a settled group for each game we’ve played yet. That will be the same for most if not all clubs this early on.

“But again it’s credit to the players showing that mentality of going into games feeling like we now always have a chance of getting a result, rather than coming to games not thinking we will get a result or wondering if we have enough on the day. We are proving that we do have enough, but a lot can change”.

⁠ Finally, McGhee is expecting a challenge from this Louth team. “From what I’m aware, Louth are another physical side but with quality throughout; they have settled well into the league so I expect a really tough game.”

Opposition Focus

Louth Town are new to the UCL after transferring from the Northern Counties East League Division One thanks to league restructuring. In the previous three years at step six after promotion, the club have finished in midtable; in thirteenth, fifteenth and seventeenth most recently.

This year, the White Wolves have had a decent start, collecting five points from their opening four games, sitting in twelfth in the division. Draws to Clifton AW and Radford came either side of a 4-0 smashing of Harrowby United, before they fell to their first defeat of the season on Saturday at the hands of Sandiacre. Harvey Lidgard currently leads the Louth scoring charts, with two goals to his name.
