The long-awaited return to the PSZ Direct Stadium is over this weekend, where Sleaford face Pinxton as they look to get back amongst the points once more.
In The Green Corner
Town will be looking to get over their disappointment of last week’s result away at Clifton All Whites, where a Taylor Gray goal was not enough to avoid defeat in a 2-1 loss.
Saturday marks the start of a new month for Sleaford who have three matches at home out of the four. They will first play Pinxton this week, before hosting South Normanton Athletic on the 13th, then travelling back to Clipstone on the 20th, and then finally at home again to Pinchbeck on the 27th.
Last time out against Pinxton, Town were well beaten 4-1, with The Greens’ only goal coming through an unfortunate own goal by the opposition. Ahead of the fixture, Sleaford winger Benji Zalewski understands the task ahead, but believes the team are in good stead for the challenge. “We know how Pinxton play, we didn’t play them so long ago, and we have the footage to look back on the last game and to see where we could improve on. I think we have prepped the right way.”
When coming into a new month, Zalewski believes that continuity of consistency will be key for a successful month as a player and as a team. “I don’t really think much has changed” he said. “My mentality doesn’t change based on circumstances, it’s always to go out and do my best whether that’s training or playing”.
“Individually, it will always be the same” he says. “To keep working hard in training and also doing my bits outside of the club as well, I’m always getting 1% better each day. As a team we always keep building tactically game by game, bit by bit, and continuing to work hard as a team in training as well”.
Opposition Report
Eighth in the league and with games in hand, Pinxton are definitely having a strong season. It is only their second season in the United Counties League Division One and finished eighth last season.
In their last five games, Pinxton have been in decent form. Seven points have been gained, most notably featuring a 5-0 trouncing of Shirebrook Town. Last time out in the Derbyshire County Cup, Pinxton faced National League North outfit Alfreton Town, but were beaten 4-0.
