Match Preview - Radford FC (H)

Olly Burton9 Jan - 14:13

Sleaford welcome Radford FC to the PSZ Direct Stadium this weekend, as Town look to secure their first home win since Pinxton.

In The Green Corner

Whilst last week’s 4-2 away defeat to Retford United was disappointing, there were many positives to take from the game. Sleaford found themselves 2-0 up, with a Harvey Graves double either side of the interval putting the visitors in a strong position. However, United’s quality eventually showed, as four goals were scored from the seventy-fifth minute onwards.

Reflecting on the game, Sleaford midfielder Joe Wilkinson believes that The Greens were unfortunate to fall to defeat. “During Saturday's game there were plenty of positives to take despite the result” he said. “We matched one of the best teams in the league for 75 minutes. The plan the management gave us beforehand I felt we executed it to perfection for all bar the last 15 minutes”.

With the team playing in Lincolnshire again, Wilkinson is determined for a reaction from the last home game against Pinchbeck and a good result against Radford could do that. “As a local lad I was absolutely gutted after the Pinchbeck game and the manner in which we lost. It was a local derby in front of a really good crowd, and we never got going.

“We have to show a reaction once again. We’ve set the standard now after playing Retford United last weekend, and we’ve got to now try and consistently find that level of performance and then the results will come.”

“Radford away seems like a long time ago, but in my opinion we were very unfortunate to not come away with at least a point on that night in September. We’ve got to match them physically and we had a good group of supporters travel that night so hopefully we can reward them back at home with a positive result and performance.”

Opposition Report

In the last meeting between the sides, Sleaford were beaten narrowly 1-0 by the visitors thanks to a first half goal. Since then, Radford have remained in mid-table, and currently sit sixteenth in the division on thirty points, but have played three less than Sleaford. In the last five matches, Radford have been in good form for their league position, collecting eight points from two wins, two draws and a loss. They have not played for two weeks however, thanks to postponements.
