In The Green Corner
Town will aim to make Non-League Day a successful one this weekend, as they look to fight for the points with Rainworth Miners Welfare, who sit bottom of the table. The last meeting between the two was a memorable one for Sleaford. A 2-1 comeback win was secured on the road, as goals from Harry Gibbons and Riley Wilkinson got The Greens all three points.
A lot has changed since then however, and it will be a test for the team regardless of the opponent's position. Sleaford manager Jamie McGhee emphasised this after last week's disappointment at Dronfield, and hopes that the players will buy into the mentality. "I think the players have to buy into it because if they dont, we will come unstuck" he said. "Its got to be about us tomorrow again, what we can do well and how to stop doing the bad things on a regular basis to give ourselves a chance of staying in a game and not making it hard work for ourselves unnecessarily.
"It's really important we learn even at this stage of the season how to bounce back from the disappointment of the last 2 results and performances. Hopefully there will be a good turn out of supporters there to help push us to get a result."
In terms of team selection, McGhee confirms the length of some recent absentees. "We have 2 suspensions at the moment. Taylor Gray is to serve 3 more games. James Twigg is now to serve a 2-match suspension. New signing Kyle Reek is out for the next 3 weeks with injury also".
It is not all bad however, as the gaffer has dipped into the market to bring in some a new face, as well as hopefully more to come. "We have brought in Brima Daramy, who is a big handful of a striker. He's going to bring some experience to us and help the younger lads. At this late stage of the season, it's more and more difficult to get players, and we only have until Tuesday to have them registered."
Opposition Focus
The Wrens have had a disastrous season, and relegation is already confirmed. The club have only avoided defeat on six occasions, winning three and drawing three to collect a measly twelve points with a whopping minus one-hundred-and-fourteen goal difference.
Rainworth's form has also been poor, having lost each of their last eleven matches, only scoring five goals in that run.
