In The Green Corner
Sleaford will have to dust themselves down and go again if they are to get a result this week, facing one of the leading teams in the UCL Division One standings, Retford FC.
The last meeting between the two was mired in unpleasant scenes, with the result ending 5-2 thanks to a comeback from the opponents. For Sleaford, this week will be as much about getting revenge on Retford as it will be turning form around, with Town losing the last three.
It will be a difficult task for Sleaford, but speaking ahead of the fixture, defender Archie Olivier-Townrow has recognised what needs to come on Saturday, and has also reflected on his start to life at the club. "Since joining the team I’ve loved it, the lads are great and there’s a real togetherness in the changing room from the coaches to the players to the physio. It’s a pleasure to be involved with the club".
"Last weekend was very disappointing for us, it was a game we believed we could pick three points up so to lose and flatter Dronfield with the scoreline like we did was poor from us. We have to be ruthless in both boxes and play with intent from minute one".
"But the recent game against Retford United will give us confidence that not only can we compete with, but be on top against the best teams in the league. It’s down to us to show our quality again and win three points".
Opposition Report
The Coughs have not played a league fixture since last year, after a series of postponements has seen the action halted, coinciding with a drop in the table to second below rivals Retford United. It was United, incidentally, who Retford last played against - losing 2-0 that day.
