Sleaford Town found themselves earning a point at the PSZ Direct Stadium for the second time in three days, drawing 1-1 with Pinchbeck United on Easter Monday.
An early goal from Elliot Foster was levelled out by Kyle Onyon, who made it two goals in two games by converting a penalty in the second half.
In a match between the sides who share the ground, it was Pinchbeck who showed positive signs towards goal early on. Eventually, having already created half-chances in the opening ten minutes, they managed to open the scoring.
A ball was played in behind the Sleaford defence which JJ Ward managed to get on the end of. The attacker slid in striker Foster, who placed his effort into the top corner with Ryan Kamm not able to get a significant hand on it, as the ball nestled in the back of the net.
Less than ten minutes later, the hosts were creating dangerous chances again. The biggest chance after the goal came from a dangerous ball crossed in from the right wing. Nobody was able to get on the end of it though, with the Sleaford players realising their standards needed to be lifted.
The performance started to become more positive for the visitors from here, too, with Onyon whipping a dangerous ball into the box, only for it to fall just wide of Lewis Smith.
Onyon continued to be the danger man for the Greens, with a ball in volleyed by him, but it was well saved by Ben Martin in the Pinchbeck net.
Smith found himself through on goal late in the first half, but his shot was well saved by Martin, who laid on the ball to allow the clock to run down to half time.
The second half seemed to bring on a different side of Sleaford, who looked hungry to find a goal and get something from the game.
Eventually, a chance to do so came their way when Lewis Smith was tripped in the box after good work by Riley Wilkinson, giving the referee no choice but to point to the spot.
It was Onyon who stepped up to take the spot-kick, replicating his goal on Saturday, and giving Sleaford belief that they could win the game.
A free-kick minutes later was taken by Jamie McGhee and met by the head of captain Jonathan Timmins. The centre-back directed it towards goal, but it was just wide of goal.
With both sides fighting late on, understanding the importance of three points at this stage of the season, neither side could find a winner as the referee blew for full time, ending an exciting thriller on the final day of the Bank Holiday weekend.
Sleaford will be hoping to continue the performance of the second half on Saturday, as they face relegation-threatened Holwell Sports F.C. at the PSZ Direct Stadium.
