Sleaford Town return to United Counties League action on Saturday afternoon, as they face Deeping Rangers at The Haydon Whitham Stadium.
Following Tuesday nights 2-0 loss to Harrowby United, the Greens will be looking to get back to winning way’s away from home. Manager Matt Evans knows his side are eager to bounce back and get a much-deserved three points under their belt again. The Greens had some good opportunities in attack on Tuesday night, and they are aware of the quality they possess, with the potential to convert more chance.
In positive team news for Sleaford, Grantham Town loanee Harry Gibbons was given his first 30 minutes in a Greens shirt, and there are no added injury concerns from those already unavailable.
Sleaford currently sit 13th in the league on 19 points, seven behind the play-off spots. As for Deeping, they currently occupy the final relegation spot, in 19th place. The Rangers are currently sat on eight points, just one point off Shirebrook in 18th. If results were to go their way, Sleaford can find themselves jump up from 13th to 9th. The results the Greens have had recently are not reflective of the performances, and the Sleaford players can be aware that they are playing well enough to secure themselves wins again.
On Tuesday night, Deeping played out a 1-1 draw with Skegness on home soil. In other home matches recently, Rangers have drawn 1-1 with Pinchbeck United, only to lose 4-2 on penalties, as well as a 6-1 loss to AFC Mansfield and a 4-2 loss against Eynesbury Rovers in the cup. The last time The Greens played Deeping Rangers, they won 4-0 at The MKM Ground thanks to goals by Tom Ward, Will Gillies and a Joe Smith brace.
Matt Evans spoke highly of the number of Sleaford fans that made the journey to Harrowby on Tuesday night, and the squad will need as much backing as possible on Saturday, as they look to get a win on the board.
Kick-off is at 3pm at the Haydon Whitham Stadium, Towngate E, Market Deeping, Peterborough PE6 8LQ. Current admission prices for the 2024/25 season are as follows: Adults £7, Concessions £5, and u18s £3.
