Match Preview – Radford FC vs Sleaford Town FC – Tuesday 16th September 2025
Sleaford Town are back on the road for their next United Counties League Division One fixture, as they head to Radford FC for a 19:45 pm kick off.
The Greens will be looking to follow up on their last fixture, where they escaped the battle with Dunkirk as victors, securing a valuable three points. Town will be hoping that they can add a third away victory of the season to the statistics, having previously beaten Rainworth MW and Staveley MW on their 25/26 travels.
The visit to Selhurst Street will not be easy, as all three of Radford’s victories in the league thus far have been at home, as well as two draws. Wins against West Bridgford, Rainworth MW and Sandiacre have secured the bulk of The Pheasants’ points in 25/26, on top of impressive draws against the likes of high-flying Retford United. Away form is what has let the hosts down however, as only two points from those fixtures has seen them slump to sixteenth, a place below Sleaford. Radford have also played two games more than The Greens.
If previous league history is anything to go by, it could be said that Radford have had a false start in the UCL D1 this year. Since their transferral into the division in 2021/22, they have finished fourth, sixth, eighth and ninth. On the other hand, trends could suggest that Radford’s opening twelve are a reflection on their gradual slipping down of the table.
A player to look out for on the opposition is Musa Jawara, who has had a prolific start to his season in front of goal. The Radford player has netted six times in only eight outings, including an incredible four goal haul in their 4-4 home tussle with Clifton All Whites back in August.
After a win last time out, Town gaffer Matt Evans looks forward to Tuesday Evening, and suggests Town can build on last Saturday; “I’m feeling good about how people are developing and how the group are moving forward” he comments, “The performance will be key and the results should follow”.
“It’s great to get clean sheets and shows that we are getting good shape to reduce chances. However, we mustn't get complacent” he adds, “More clinical teams will punish us in some of our weaker moments. We also dont have Jonno for two games due to his work commitments so there are enforced changes again”.
“Radford will be a physical side and will be keen to get above us. They’ll try to intimidate us so we need to be mentally ready as well as tactically”.
